S1 Checkout Sheet Requirements

General Information

Time/Date, Wind Speed/Direction, Visibility, Ceiling, Temperature, Dewpoint, Altimeter.

#6 Position Relief Briefing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures Chapter 4 Able to complete a position briefing for opening and closing of a position.
#7 Exhibits basic airspace knowledge 2-4-22 Demonstrates basic knowledge of the different airspace:

Class A, B, C, D, E, G

Controller also has basic knowledge of Airline/Aircraft Parking Locations. (Airliners at Terminal, etc)

#6 Knowledge and importance of Hold Short 3-7-2 Controller issues correct hold short instructions
#7 Ground Sequencing 3-7-2 Controller sequencies aircraft using the phraseology of "follow" "Behind" and "without delay"
#8 Helicopter Operations 3-11-1 Controller defines the three movement types and explains or demonstrates the difference between hover and air taxi.

Use of this checklist is mandatory for all Controller Exams (Promotion and Re-Qualification) .  All 25 items must be covered during the evaluation by either observing the student for each item, or via oral question.  Students must pass 90% of all the items listed, with no Critical Task Failures. Regardless of pass/fail status, ALL failed items will be reviewed with the student by the INS/MEN to ensure comprehension.
